Coleherne Road

Coleherne Road runs south of Old Brompton Road. It consists mainly of four-storey buildings (plus basement). Some of the buildings are entirely in stucco and others are brick.

Coleherne was an ancient name in the area. There had been a Coleherne House and a Coleherne Field in the days of arable farming.

Robert Gunter II granted leases to Corbett and McClymont of the land where they built Nos. 22-34 (even) in 1871.

They were also party to an arrangement by which Gunter leased the sites of Nos. 1-23 (odd) and Nos. 2-20 (even) to John Beale, who must have been an associated builder. Beale built his houses from 1867 to 1868.

Nos. 25-35 were similarly built by Jeremiah Little between  1872-3 under a lease from Robert Gunter to which Corbett and McClymont were parties.
