Kramer Mews

This was built on the Edwardes Estate. In 1867 Lord Kensington granted this area to a Chelsea builder named Leonard Couling.  He took six acres of land in all.  He built some of the houses, but to a large extent, he subleased portions of land to other builders for construction.

Alfred Brickell, a Fulham builder, erected stables in Kramer Mews in 1873.  It appears he was carrying out the work on behalf of Couling.

Kramer Mews was virtually destroyed during the war.  In 1973 Anchor Housing Association built a development of sheltered housing for the elderly, named Sybli Thorndike Casson House, designed by Hubbard Ford & Partners.
