It was Clyde Street until 1938 when it was imaginatively renamed Redcliffe Place. (For the name, see Redcliffe Road.)
This part of what Corbett and McClymont called “the Redcliffe Estate” was owned by the Pettiward family.
R J Pettiward granted leases to Corbett and McClymont in 1866-7 for the construction of the houses on the land. They sublet it to A M Greig, another builder.
