Wharfedale Street is a small street running parallel to Old Brompton Road and west of Coleherne Road. The house are mainly four-storeys (plus basement) and on the south side there is the entrance to Coleherne Mews.
Wharfedale Street was built in part of the estate owned by Robert Gunter II and he named it after his property in Yorkshire.
The properties were built by John Beale 1866-8 who was granted leases by Robert Gunter at the request of Corbett and McClymont . Sometimes Corbett and McClymont took the leases of sites and did the building work themselves. Sometimes they arranged for other nominated builders to take over part of the work and to take the site leases.
