The site of Bina Gardens was owned by James Gunter II.
The builder John Spicer took the first steps in the construction of Bina Gardens. In 1869 he built the first half of the eastern side from the Old Brompton Road end, with Nos. 2A-12 (even). In 1871 he started on the opposite side with Nos. 1-9 (odd), adding No. 11 in 1873.
But then there was a lull for many years before another builder, William Willett, undertook the rest of the development by extending the even side of the Gardens by building Nos. 14-30 (even). Willett’s architect was H B Measures.
